In terms of ActionScript, nope...
In terms of making pretty things that look nice, sort of.

I don't really like Flash all that much as it can stuff up some web browsing functionality and there's little that you can do with flash other than animating things which can't be done with a server side scripting language like PHP.
Granted, I can't make forms and such fly about and warp with PHP, but at least I can be sure that the user still has a working back button and that they can use the site in even the more basic browsers which may not support Flash.

I can do very basic things in flash but I'm loving playing with it

Any ideas why action script provided in flash tutorials very seldom works? It's irritating the hell out of me LOL

i can draw and design very well in flash...
i can animate very well also using tween Ect.
i am ok with actionscript.

Oh, that's bad, hmm try to read some tutorials or something or google "Flash Tutorials" . Would be pretty useful.

ActionScript from the majority of tutorials available on the net cause debugging errors in Flash 8 and the books I own on Flash are only good for explaining what Flash can be used for rather than teaching you how to use it...

Aha, i see well that is pretty bad MGDesigns, i think they should teach people how to use them too.

I believe when these books are being written they should have a handful of people with varying degrees of knowledge (from absolutely none to intermediate) rather than the handful of people that have been using said programs since their first release versions to help and provide practical feedback to the author(s).

eh, there are many ways to learn flash. I reall recommend Lynda.com stuff to all of you. The best way to learn is to try it though, after you started to learn some basics .

On-topic: I know a little bit, but my friend is a Flash-Pro, he creates entire websites using Flash... ^^

I can do a few basics like masking and a few time line effects and stuff but i never really got round to learning action script as i really focus on coding design and advertising at the moment. When i've got things running a bit better online i might crack on and start to learn it as i would love to be able to make some small flash games

My friend and I have a project running at the moment, h's the Flash pro and I'm the programmer. He sure knows how to create beautiful Flash websites. I don't know, I'll have to view those Lynda.com's tutorials once.

It's a website for some DJ or something. The only problem, he made a crappy logo himself using paint, and we're not allowed to re-design it =.=.

Well, he isn't a Graphics Artist himself, you can see that when just checking out the logo. Also the colors he used aren't really.... handy. Oh well...
