You Should Use A Reseller Account When Hosting Multiple Websites.
I see members ask about what package they should go with if they need hosting for multiple websites.
While shared accounts often allow the ability to host many or even unlimited domains, you should only use these for your own internal sites and not for serious production business sites.
If you have clients or other websites in multiple niches, the best route is to go with is a Reseller hosting account for security.
For example, if you own a small business such as a carpet cleaning company and want to host a single website, then a shared hosting account will usually be sufficient.
However, if you have multiple customers or websites in different niches then you should get a Reseller hosting account.
Security
The reason to use a Reseller is account security. For example, cPanel uses a technology called CageFS which creates a separate PHP filesystem for each cPanel user.
In simple terms, this means that only your website on the cPanel account will use the specific system files keeping your account safe and secure.
Especially for those using WordPress, if you don’t update regularly and an attacker gains access through one of your themes or plugins, then you would be in serious trouble! Now that hacker has access to all the WordPress sites on the account he gained access to.
Not so if all your WordPress sites are on seperate Reseller Accounts. If everything is spread out across multiple seperate cPanel Reseller accounts, then you have a firewall of security.
DirectAdmin works the same as cPanel. Spread your accounts out in seperate Reseller accounts so that a hacker doesn't gain access to all your sites by hacking one site.
