vBulletin Question

Hi, I've read the vBulletin manual over but am still a little confused on the differences between a moderator and a supermoderator.

Also, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between a supermoderator and an administrator - except for the fact that the administrator can access the control panel.

Any comments?

super moderators can moderate every single forum. moderators can only moderator specific forums which you set for them

Personally id otn use super moderators...I just stick with normal.

And administrators can do a fair bit more such as run sql queries in the admincp and other stuff

1. What do moderators do? or what do they need to do?
2. How do moderators moderate if the don't have access to the control panel. Is there a moderator's section in the forum?

moderators have got their own control panel. for example on this forum it is at http://www.devdreams.com/forum/modcp/index.php?

Only moderators can access it. They are able to ban and edit users, delet, move and edit posts and loas of other stuff.

Yeah... Basically I (as a mod... ) can ban and edit users. And then stuff like edditing/moving/deleting thread/posts/attachments/events.
I can also add announcements... give and take points and make posts "Sticky"...

I've decided to use the default skin for the moment. However, I would want to change the banner in header - instead of the default vBulletin logo, I'd like to change it to a customized logo - very much like the one in digitalpoint forums.

Any idea how I can do this? I've haven't had the time to look at the stylemanager yet.

you need to download the vbulletin logo psd file which is available at www.vbulletin.com

Then in photoshop just change the text and save it as an image. Then reupload it overwriting the original logo

Hmmm... I've just been to www.vbullein.com and cannot seem to find the location to download the psd files. Do you have a direct link?

Also, how do you make a post a sticky?

For the psd file I guess you would need to log into your CP at vbulletin.com
As for a sticky, At the bottom of a "Post New Thread" page there are lots of options, one is to make it a sticky...

I dont have my vbulletin account member with me so I cant login to look. Do a search on their forums.

Yeah, I found it - it's in their support page. However, the graphics are only for their buttons, icons, etc. Not for the main logo.

The good news is that there is a copy of the "white bump" floating areound in the forums - so I can try to use that to change the logo...
