  i dont want dreamweaver cause its too easy and plus i want do the html my self. also it takes hrs to download its like 24hrs on dial-up.

  Notepad is just plain crap. 8 space tabs, no syntax highlighting, no auto-indent -- I can't even imagine coding full time in notepad.

  EditPlus is my editor of choice. Hide every toolbar except the document selector and its a syntax highlighting, multi-document, auto-tab, split-screen, line numbered and brace highlighter Notepad.

  i have future plans of an online html editor where users can sign up for a file account where they can develop and test their pages online. i also hope of doing a php one too

  i use Allaire Homesite 4.5 its great, u can do the code urself and if u get lost or if ur lazy u can even add stuff witout the code, best of both worlds. its also great because when u type in the code it closes it for u automatically, very good imo. notepad is great but having programs like these make things faster and easier and better. notepad is like riding a bike when u can drive a car. i never figured out how to save the notepad file to view them anyways. u can try that one man, allaire's site they have the trials. gl

  I suggest that you just go with Dreamweaver - easy is good. Don't reinvent the wheel.
  
  If you're dead serious with just a plain editor, go for ultra-edit - best you can find. I downloaded a copy before at download.com.

  They sorted it out in recent versions... And it makes no difference if you hand-code...

  Hey Arestia, I guess using line text editors are reserved for the gurus like yourself. I could never code a design from scratch without a wysiwyg editor like FrontPage

  Problem with using a text editor is you have to toggle out to a different program to view your work. And for someone like me (who is not very good), it gets kinda tedious...

  i use FP, and Dw, (frontpage and dreamweaver,) i am very bad in making layouts, mostly that is cause i am to Lazy to try things and stuff, so i mostly get free templates:P few weeks go i made 1 layout mysellf but screwed 1 thing up (easy to change back) but was to lazy to do so.., also Notepad, is very handy if you need to edit a page Fast, and not much, its just what you need...

  lol well im trying out edit plus, im tired of Homesite, i think its causing some of my problems. I do my coding by hand so it doesnt matter to me, DW is a bit confusing to me, im not sure if i could complete a full site wit it.
