Godaddy for years has offered free email services with domain registration.

Now they are ending the free email and moving to microsoft 365 with a 2 month trial for which you would need to pay after.

I thought this story was incredible as the forum, NamePros.com, was able to build enough pressure on GoDaddy to force them to release Brent Oxley's domains. Brent was the founder of HostGator.com until he sold it in the early 2000's. He now runs Create.com.
