I agree that new questions should have new threads, instead of the ol' thread hijackers.
But, as a mod and admin elsewhere, if a thread becomes a conversation about "nothing", then it doesn't have any place in niche forum…
Niche forums are hard to get large memberships, but the members you get will ususally like that subject.
I would suggest that you make it so one has to be a member to post. It can help keep out the garbage.
Just a thought, but the bar code as used on the portal would make for some interesting buttons. If you make the banner at top similar to the bar code with the letters underneath, that would start the barcode theme.
