How much should you charge for advertising? Is there some way of calculating a fair amount?

ive been wondering that, on 1 of my websites someone paid for 4 months in advance at £4 a month for a text link recently i got £15 and i also have a few that vary in between i want to start charging a set price but not sure what to charge i was told i should be looking at about £10 a month for my site which gets about 40,000 hits a month, although its my 1st month but im not sure how accurate this is

maybe by click percentage if 25% of your users click then charge 25 % of your basic hosting cost

i think thats under pricing by a LOT,
in 1 month id earnt my years hosting costs, but saying that i got my hosting very cheap

yes that is very cheap in my view...

how would you go about finding your site's clickthrough percentage? just put a link to a statistic tracker on the site is it?
