Why .cc domain names

Just wondering what's the hoo-hah about .cc domain names. They aren't as cool as .com are they? Why would one register a .cc domain name?

becuase so many .coms are taken so people grab up .cc and .biz etc

i'd go with a .com anytime. if there's absolutely no choice, i may go for a .net - guess it's my personal preference.

Yeah... If you cant remember what the domain is but that it is www.devdreams.something ... Your first guess would be devdreams.com...

Well, basically... If I forgot the url to DevDreams... but I knew it had DevDreams in it, the first Url I would try would be DevDreams.com.
I wouldn't try devdreams.cc first... lol

.cc is the country code for Coco's Keeling Islands. It is unrestricted and may be registered by anyone, from any country.

ah, it must be something like .tv where the government is really small and sold off it's icann domain rights to some company...
