As a freelance webdesigner what would be a fair hourly rate?

Well it would depend on what sort of job it would be and how hard you are going to have to work

my opinion:

freelance work - $35-40 per hour?
hobbyist like myself doing stuff in my free time - $15-20 per hour?

also depends if your doing graphics/coding or both
but $35-40 an hour seems about right
