What resolution do you design for?

I use 800x600 but i am building a new computer and i will use 1024 then coz things look better

800x600 for me... there are still many people out there on that resolution.. especially "older" folks...:D

there is a bad side to 1024 because i made a site on that res and then when i looked o 800 every thing was squashed down coz i hadn't been thinking about the amount of content

i think we should go for both 800-600 and 1024-768... with resolutions getting better and better, more and more people won't be on 800-600 anymore...

I've been seeing a decline of the 800x600 monitor resolution on my sites over the last 12 months. On one of my sites that has mainly webmasters visiting, 27% of them have an 800x600 resolution.

wow... is this type of information provided in the site stats (e.g. awstats)? where do you compile this information?

lol yeah, i usually do 800x600 but there are some ive done in 1024

No. Awstats is much too general. I like to have lots of details. I've been using web-stat.com for the last 2 years. I've been very satisfied with the information that they are able to provide.

When i get my new computer i am gonna get a 17 inch tft (res 1024) but then when i can afford it i want to get a 15 inch tft (res 800) and hook that up so i can see designs on different sizes

should get a new one, i got this one for about £200 it's amazing i'd cry if i had to go back to another crappy one

rumor is that if you go much past 7 opr 800 wide on screen your losing viewers anyway
