I went into the chat room today. I had a really nice conversation with myself.

Anyway, I don't know if it's the refresh rate that did it, but the background colors for the chat area and member area kept changing which was causing some problems with posting in the chat. I don't know if that was on my end, or with the chat room.

I don't think I would use it much with that interference, unless it was my computer and I could stop that.

Is there a problem with it?

    yeah thats what im guessing.
u can find anything and everything to do with phpbb over there
  • PythonPython Forum Leader The Royal RAM
ye thats the hack. the refresh rate is on 2 seconds i think. i may need to increase this or find a better, live chat hack

A better live chat hack is in order.

If i go in there, I can hear the 'click' of refresh.

When you use your PC as a HiFi, it can get pretty annoying.
    Rave it up.

You can't really host a live chat over HTTP. You can "trick" a browser into thinking it hasn't recieved the whole page yet, but that isn't very good practice. You'll need to use Java.
  • PythonPython Forum Leader The Royal RAM
ye java would be fine. but how could it be done?

come on chroder your great with PHP and quite good at java. think you would be able to create some sort of basic java chat? there would be a reward of 1500 forum dollars :)

I mean a Java applet, Javascript won't cut it either ;) I don't know how to create Java applets (yet ;))
  • ChroderChroder Senior Member The Royal RAM
But there are lots of free Java IRC applets you could use. Just create a new chan on Freenode and link the chat to that.

heres an applet , of course youll have to add your own code

You can't simply say <applet> and have a chat :p You need something to load.
  • PythonPython Forum Leader The Royal RAM
