do i need a specific software to put phpbb mods and hacks on my site.

Not usually. Of course you'll need PHP and a database but the hacks themselves usually do not require anything beyond those.

They should be an archive (ie. zip file).

lol, ye i think he is right clicking and saving the target as...

when downloading a zip file or another compressed type of file just left click on it once and the download should begin.

What do you mean an "iexplore site" ?

i think he means for example if you were to add a site to your favourites and then copy the sites page form the favourites folder when you opened it up it would go straight to the site.

like that but without the adding to favourites bit

my pc is so crap that i didnt have win zip so the file was zipped.

but one problem again is that when i open the file and i want to edit my forum i click on the page i need to edit and it loads up cannon photo express. the software my dad uses for the scanner. what program does ur pc load up guys so i can then get the software i need.

Any plain text program, even notepad. I use EditPlus though.

I gave you a link and Win98 is so old I'm not sure how you change it. If in My Computer the is Tools->Folder Options with a File Types tab, you can add an extension (.php for example) and set it so Windows automatically opens it with EditPlus. Otherwise, you can just right click it and go "Open with EditPlus{@}
