I use a linksys WRT54G with Samadhi2 and 2 HGA7T High Gain Antennas....My machines have D-Link NICs even the wired....All and all I have three machines on the network and no problemos....
oh and the firmware lets me boost my signal on top of the high gain antennas.....
however it does help that the cordless phone system is 5.4ghz
I did have wired networks in the past but its a pain to string wires up and down floors...

I opted for a wired solutions because wireless signals can really suck.
