Opening links in a new window

I have been starting to add (target="_blank") to a lot of my links on my webpage. I have been adding this especially to links that have visitors leaving my website. Any thoughts on this one way or the other?

Well its much better for your site because it means that they dont actually leave your site.

Its not as good for the site your linking to because sometimes, especially users using a non-tabbed browser like internet explorer they close any windows that open up. Not many though...
