I saw this a fair while back when google had just started it.
It's only on google.com though, so it requires that you change your homepage if you plan on using it for the homepage in firefox in the UK as FF uses google.co.uk by default here.
You also don't get the firefox skin if you do that

That's odd.
My personal google is the same on both, but I'm not redirected at all.
Google.co.uk doesn't have the login link if you're using the firefox skinned version, so you can't use this without going to the normal google anyway

Not browser dependant.
Google supports Firefox and to show their support other than the "get firefox" link stuff, they have a special skin which is used when you have google as the homepage (http://www.google.com/firefox).
The Firefox version doesn't have the customisation links.

Since I set mine up, when I go to http://www.google.com, I am redirected to my Personalized page at http://www.google.co.uk/ig ...
