Are there any "Open Source Search Engines" that will help weed out some of the bad sites, ones that use link farms,
cloaking or other unethical ways of getting better rankings on normal SE's?
Also, what is your favorite open source software to use for a search enginge?

I used to be pretty interested in a project called Nutch, which is now an Apache Lucene project (Java).
Basically, it's an open source search engine system designed not to beat big names like Google, but to promote fairness as you're not forced to put up with sponsored pages and such.
It can be used by 3rd parties and it seems that it is now being designed for such tasks as their site just redirects to the Lucene project page.
Creative Commons and Krugle make use of Nutch to power their search engines apparently.
PHP, CSS, XHTML, Delphi, Ruby on Rails & more. Current project: CMS Object. Most recent change: Theme support is up and running... So long as I use my theme resource loaders instead of that in the Rails plug-in. Release date: NEVER!!!
