I really doubt that it's an insult.

In reality, shortening words may help the inexperience typist in chats, but it does nothing when the word is completely changed. It takes effort on the part of the typist, and more effort on the part of the reader. It's like learning another language; until all dat s assimilated, it be hard to understand n dat s no lie.

I have never typed like that. Always like you see me type now (though I used to have worse grammer and more spelking mstakes). I find it hard to understand when people type in short, slang form--it's easier to read German. Und ich bin nicht zu gut an sprechen Deutsch.
