Does anyone have any idea when submission to dmoz.org will be available again? Going by http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/announcement.php?f=15 it seems the service has been down since September and no dates of when it will be functioning again

Nope, i don't have any idea. But i wouldn't mind submit my website, since there is almost no chance to get your website approved, i would prefer to add my website to some high pr directories, instead.

ive tried getting sites submitted there they hardly ever aprrove anyone

They did accept kid porn at one point and argued it was freedom of speech...I think they were good until I heard that. I just stick with google. I know you can find anything on google but I can't escape them if i don't list myself my site gets thrown in their somehow lol

well, i've been waiting for about 2 years now for 2 of my sites to be listed. probably rejected...

the 2 sites are better than some of the existing sites in dmoz... but...

I dont understand why they pcik some sites and not others. Its on an editor to editor basis so theres realy no figuiring it out.

From what I've been hearing though, DMOZ is dead.

Isn't that amazing that a directory can go from being king to being dead? How could their owner/manager let that happen? When you've already made a name for yourself like dmoz has, it should be so much easier to stay relevant than us upstarts that have to scratch and claw to make it big.

Kind of like the leg up a famous actor has at getting future acting work.

This would be a perfect time to start a directory with intentions of overpowering DMOZ

DMOZ i think declined after the law suits *spelling?* And they depend on a volunteer base of editors. How far would this go? That is why it takes about 2 years for everyone to be accepted or rejected. They have 2 mil requests and only 45 people to accept them lol.

They have some versions of a free php directory script freephpdirectoryscript.com which links to DMOZ and is supposed to be styled like DMOZ...I feel there are lacking qualities but I am modifying them so you can do an assorted amount of things. I'm working out bugs at this point though. I do feel that depending on a volunteer base of editors is not such a great idea. It's nice to have the people involved but only to a point.
