Quick Tips to Speed Up Windows Startup
Many computers spend valuable time starting background processes that are never used. This tutorial will teach you how to make your Windows start up faster and run more efficiently without much tweaking.
1. Click the
Start Menu and go to
Run
2. In the search field type "msconfig" without quotes.
3. A new window will open and you should select the
Startup tab at the top.
4. You will see a list of processes that startup when your Windows boots. We can start un-checking useless processes now. You must be careful not to un-check important system processes though, so if you don't know what you're doing follow my directions exactly.
5. You may un-check any of the following processes:
Adobe Gamma - all 3 are Adobe background processes
Adobe Gamma Loader
Adobe Reader Speed Launch
GUI - Gigabyte GUI program
InterVideo WinCinema Manager - InterVideo background process
iTunesHelper - iTunes speed launch assistant
jusched - Java background process
logonstudio - LogonStudio background process
MagicDisc - MagicDisc background process
MSASCui - Windows Defender background scanner
NeroCheck - both are Nero background process
NMBgMonitor
qttask - Quicktime background process
6. Those are only the processes I've stopped. There may be others that you can un-check to optimize your PC but that's up to you. Be careful not to un-check any processes from C:\Program Files\Common Files\ or C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\ because that could mess up certain programs. Also watch out for your virus scanner.
7. After you are finished, restart your computer, check the box on the popup that comes up, and hit OK. You're now done and are free to enjoy the speed you've always wanted.
