:PSP - Any Version
-:1:-
Open a new transparent canvas 500 x 500
-:2:-
Grab your text tool and select a font, these are the settings I used
Add your text to your canvas, it doesn't matter waht color/gradient or pattern you use. You will see a box round it
Layers, Convert to Raster
-:3:-
Now, Selections, Select All,
Selections, Float
You will now see marching ants around your text
Now, Selections, Defloat
-:4:-
On your layer palette you will see two layers, the bottom one is empty and the top one has our text on it
The top layer should be active (colored blue), right click on that layer and select delete
Now we will just have 1 layer and no text, but we still have marching ants on the canvas

Finally a way to make it more difficult for lazy people to steal my designs. This is highly appreciated. Many thanks for sharing.
