Stupid idea or not?

Well like some of you have said this forum needs something which other communities dont offer...

Now i know this might sound kinda stupid and worthless but its just an idea...

What about an official DD certificate. People could be put through a test and if they get a high enough score they would be awarded an online certificate and their name could be placed on a special page.

Or maybe if this site makes enough profit(by people clicking on adsense*hint hint*) then real certificates could be sent out via the post. Although we would then require one person in each country to be able to send them out.

Just a thought...

I'd say just a test, and it shows an image of the certificate with their score to the left of their posts.

I don't think people would go for something being mailed to them. They hardly like to type in their actual first and/or last name on their computer (hell, I usually type fake ones, myself, and I don't even care about privacy) let alone their address.

You should have a series of tests testing different areas of knowledge.
CSS
XHTML
HTML
PHP
Perl + CGI
Basics of Design ( font size, typography, to use gradient backgrounds or not)
A test of knowing hex codes
Graphics Design (how to accomplish certain things and effects with Photoshop)

just a small thing, not everyone uses photoshop
i cant get my head round that, but hopefully ill be getting taught when i go back to uni

No offecence, but I don't really like the idea. I just don't think people could be bothered to take a test to get something that they probably won't even bother to print out.

Although...having said that- what would be cool would be just a little box on the main page that has a "handy hint" of the day or week. It can be anything really.
But I think that it would give someone something to find out straight away when they come to Dev Dreams.

All it would have to be is just a script like you have at the top of the forum- like a news ticker/fader

Gandhi (isn't it supposed to be spelled Ghandi?), people who don't want to take the test don't have to it's just a neat little option. And I think that Python would agree that mailing actual certificates isn't the greatest idea; it's expensive and many people would just abuse it, not to mention not even give a damn about it anyways.
