Do you think that paid advertising is worth it? for example if you were going to spend $500 to advertise your site on someone elses do you think that you would actually make that money back?

For some reaosn i dont think so. Maybe if you only payed about $60 for advertising then yes i think its worth it but otherwsie no.

I think yu'd be surprised just how much traffic $500 could bring you.

If you were to spend it in a sensible way, you could easily make your money back.

Bare in mind that if you draw people to your site with advertising, what it is you can offer them as a service. If you spend $500 on advertising, you won't make that amount back just y having more ads on your pages. You will do it by selling a service.

It might be. I you can make enough from the visitors, then perhaps. For instance, if you charged for membership to the forum (Which i don't think is a good idea) then you might be able to make the money back.

Perhaps there is another way you could make the cash?

Sorry rally. Have to disagree.

No mater how many visitors he can get for his $500, He won't make that back in advertising. For advertising to actually be worth it, you need to sell a service. For instance, If Python were selling web design services from the site at $300.00 a go, then if only 2 of the visitors that he attracts to the site convert, then it will have been worth it.

very true. i know that the prices are high but take webmasterforum.com for example. in their store for them to design you a site they charge 19900. yes thats right. nineteen thousand. if you dont like the store prices well im sorry but theres nothing that can be done. i mean if i sold advertising in the store for 100 points everyone on the forum would buy it and what would i get from it?

the store is supposed to have rather high prices so that it encourages the members to post more and it gives them something to aim for!

Yeah, I agree to a certian extent...

I doubt that I will ever get that many points. On average, I get 7 dollars per post.

That's 1,000 posts before I can afford anything. Which is a shame.

I don't mind it is so much, I just have to accept that the chances of getting any advertising on the site, is pretty slim.

BTW, what's with rally's word count?

Not yet but I will be on an upcoming project quite soon.

Until this project, I had no need to pay for advertising as there was no service that I could provide that would benefit from it.
