started developing a dynamic signature script

I've created a basic script that adds a counter to my signature displayed through an image. kinda cool. anyone here interested in having such a gizmo for your signatures all customized and such? I may create a service for people on this forum to have cool customized counter images.

by the way, you know your stat program you made, have you put that for download anywhere? im really trying to find something like awstats thats easier to set up

it's not half as function heavy as aw stats and has no graphical displays of data or anything that complicated

I like the concept, but I really don't like the idea of anyone other than P knowing my IP address.

That bothers me.

SEBasic: It doesn't record your IP address and it only shows it to you to kind of prove it's uber cool And besides, every site can see your IP if they have a counter running (as I'm sure these forums do) it's as simple as $GLOBALS;

Tony: I think I missed something, what are you refering to?

I also just added a function where the sig image now displays what site it was seen on last before you loaded it. there are so many things I can do with this script. I especially like that it can be pulled into any forum

As long as it isnt recording IP adresses of people viewing it then that's fine with me.

I do however think its a pretty neat script. Perhaps you could make it so that it links to where it was last seen(yeah I know im trying to get more site exposure )

well, the members section is *almost* done. You can now create an account and log in but you cannot edit preferences yet.

All the sections are set up now and all that remains is being able to edit preferences and dynamically display the signatures per account. REALLY close now. I'll need beta testers very soon.

Ok it is finally ready to go for beta testing. all user functions work properly, you can create an account and yes, you very own signature. the sig itself is not very customizable right now... all you have is your own private counter, your nickname and your chosen background for the sig but more is coming soon.

grab an account and play around with it. I see you already have an account so I guess just have some fun with it and see if you find any errors.

I've added a lot of user functionality now. sessions are kept on every page and log in specific content is shown on every page (instead of the log in boxes even when you are logged in, it now has a link to the user CP and a logout link)

it's coming along quite nicely

Possible feature: perhaps you could offer more personalized options. For example the user can upload their own personal background of choice which is then watermarked with your sites url or something.

yeah I think I'm planning on adding something like that.

i'd have to restrict image file size and dimensions some but there will be custom backgrounds in there and soon.

also, custom quotes, compact versions of signatures (you can see an example at the bottom of the home page), possibly personalized countdown (ie. x number of days until your birthday)

Python and I have been talking and it looks like DinoSIG will be incorporated into DevDreams forums in the not-to-distant future. That means you could enable and manage your DinoSIG (if you want one) right through devdreams user CP. Kinda cool It's going to take some work but we think you guys will like it a lot.

I've started adding more graphically pleasing background sigs. I will be adding support for a compact version of the sigs soon for people who want something smaller. You can see a preview of the compact version on the dinosig home page: here

We now have a total of 20 different backgrounds to choose from and support for compact size signatures. Soon there were be EVEN MORE features!
