well you can say Gimp isnt that great but i have been able to make better stuff on gimp than photoshop and im not tring to say Quanta is as good as dreamweaver be cause i dont do much graphics in web design i do it by code so i really dont use Quanta but if you would really like to see a stuff about linux read this from start to finish

so from what ive heard linux is totally open source. so that means that if someone wanted to they could modify it as much as they want and could practically create a whole new OS - or is that a little far fetched, hehe

Linux is just the kernel, the heart of the OS. Other distro's (Red Hat, Slackware, Gentoo etc) build most of their own stuff. Most Linux things are open source and released under the GPL, so you could basically make your own OS (a lot of Linux distros are based off of Red Hat or Debian).

As to the Slashdot link, anything on Slashdot is bias. Everyone on Slashdot hates MS and Windows, that's like saying your never going to use Linux because you read MS's "facts" about Linux page. There's no way to get a truly unbias opinoin about which OS is better.

Damn, I've been overestimating how easy it is to use up bandwidth!

And Python: You have a flash header, and use images in place of text several times on this page; 10-50 kb shouldn't matter too much.. actually, if the smilies are cached (they're all right here below the quick reply mod), it should be just the image tag which shows them that takes up bandwidth. That's just a couple of kilobytes...
